These are turbulent times in the financial markets and planning the topics for FEI’s lunches too far in advance can be dangerous. However, we are delighted that for our final lunch of the year we had arranged for David Murray to be our speaker. We cannot think of a more appropriate person to share thoughts with us on what is happening in the global markets and the banking world - his experience of thirteen years as CEO of a major bank (the Commonwealth Bank of Australia) but without current “front-line” responsibilities place him in an almost unique position to view the unfolding events. As you will know, David is now Chair of the Future Fund and he will of course also talk about the role of Fund in these times and the future.
Please book now for this important event to ensure your place. Clayton Utz, one of our corporate sponsors, has kindly agreed that we may use their excellent board room (which seats 80 or so) as the venue for the lunch. You are welcome to bring guests and colleagues.
Although this is our last lunch of 2008, it is not our final event of the year – don’t forget our annual dinner on the evening of Wednesday 26 November, when we shall try to forget the woes of the markets for a few hours. We shall send details to members soon, but start organising your tables now!
