We are delighted that Lindsay Tanner has agreed to speak at our August lunch and look forward to hearing his views on a variety of matters. He will be the first minister from the new Labor Government to address FEI.
The first Rudd Labor Budget was framed in turbulent economic times and is designed to put downward pressure on inflation as well as setting the Australian economy up for the longer term. Lindsay Tanner will discuss the broader vision for the ways forward to meet Australia’s national challenges including investing in the future by establishing three new nation building funds.
Along with his Finance responsibilities, Lindsay Tanner is also Australia’s first Federal Minister for Deregulation and will discuss how reducing the burden of ineffective or unnecessary regulation will build Australia’s productive capacity and create a stronger economy.
