We are pleased to invite members to attend a lunch with the Queensland Treasurer, Andrew Fraser MP.

Queensland has benefited from a booming economy in recent years.  The Treasurer will give an overview of the Government’s strategies for ensuring Queensland remains one of Australia’s best performing states. 

This lunch is being held jointly with the Finance and Treasury Association.  If you are a member of the FTA as well as of FEI, you will have received an invitation from the FTA, and you may book through either organisation (please not both!).  If you are only a member of FEI, you should book through FEI.  You are encouraged to bring colleagues and other guests.

Brief biography of Andrew Fraser

Andrew Fraser was appointed to the role of Treasurer in the new Bligh Government after overseeing the most important program of reform to local government in Queensland's history during his term as Minister for Local Government, Planning and Sport.

First elected to the electorate of Mt Coot-tha in 2004 and re-elected in 2006, Andrew became the youngest ever Parliamentary Secretary in Queensland during his first term as an MP.  After first serving as Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier and Treasurer, he then served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier and Minister for Health.

He became the youngest Minister since 1891 when appointed to the Cabinet after the last election.  Appointed at 30, he is the youngest Minister to hold the Treasury portfolio since 1915.

Andrew is a graduate of Griffith University with degrees in Commerce and Law, graduating with first class honours and receiving the University Medal for academic excellence.
