The FEI annual dinner is FEI’s last event of 2009 and a great opportunity to hear a prominent speaker, catch up with fellow FEI members and entertain partners and guests at one of Sydney’s top locations, the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron in Kirribilli.  Each year members, their partners and guests say how much they enjoy this annual event, so consider coming even if you haven’t been to the annual dinner before. 

This year our guest speaker will be Margaret Jackson, one of Australia’s most experienced non-executive directors, as indicated by her brief bio below.  Margaret will talk generally about her experiences inside and outside corporate life in Australia.

You are very welcome to bring your spouse / partner and other guests; we also encourage you to take a corporate table for your finance colleagues or clients plus their partners as an end of year celebration, as several companies have done in the past.

Brief biography of Margaret Jackson AC

Margaret Jackson is Chairman of FlexiGroup Ltd and a Director of Billabong International Limited.  Margaret is also Chairman of the Asia Pacific Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, President of Australian Volunteers International, Chairman of the Ponting Foundation and the Chairman of the New Life Campaign for the Salvation Army.  She recently chaired the Steering Committee for the National Long-Term Tourism Strategy Report on behalf of the Honourable Martin Ferguson.

Margaret holds a Bachelor of Economics Degree from Monash University and an MBA with distinction from Melbourne University.  She received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Monash University in December 2002 and a Companion of the Order of Australia in the General Division (AC) in June 2003 for service to business in diverse and leading Australian corporations and to the community in the area of support for medical research, the arts and education.  Margaret is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. 

Before beginning her career as a full time company director in 1992, she was a Partner of KPMG Peat Marwick’s Management Consulting Division.  Margaret recently retired from the board of the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited after 15 years of service and retired as Chairman of Qantas Airways Ltd in 2007. She was first appointed to the Qantas Board of Directors in 1992 and became Chairman in 2000.  She has also formerly served as: Chairman of the Transport Accident Commission and Methodist Ladies’ College; Deputy Chairman of Southcorp Limited; a Director of the Howard Florey Institute of Experimental Physiology and Medicine; a member of the Government’s Task Group on Emissions Trading; Co-Chair of the Australia New Zealand Leadership Forum; and a Director of John Fairfax Holdings Limited, the Brain Research Institute, The Broken Hill Proprietary Company Limited, Pacific Dunlop Limited, and Australian Telecommunications.
